Status effects refer to any condition that can either hinder or improve the character's stats for a period of time. There are two main types of status effects: beneficial and detrimental, or buff and debuff, with some status effects giving both beneficial and detrimental changes to the player. Buffs or debuffs can be gained from the food, drinks, or medicinal items your character consumes, from entering specific buildings, taking part in an Outpost Attack, or automtaically applied to all players globally for the duration of a global game event (such as a weekend boost). All buffs effects only last for a certain period of time, from minutes (from certain foods and drinks) to multiple days (global event buffs), while certain debuffs are indefinite until rectified by the player. Players cannot stack up the effect that an item can give, but they can refresh the duration every time they consume the same item.
